Ideas

It’s interesting as I look forward in my career and set my goals.   I’ve found that having an idea is not enough, but instead you have to act on the idea.  You have to put something in front of others that is tangible and works.  Otherwise, what’s the point?  I have had plenty of ideas, but I’ve not had the ability or the time to put them in front of people.  I have to think it’s cost me a bit.

As I move forward, I think I’m going to use this blog to voice my ideas, the solutions to the problems I face, and ways that I use tools and objects in my day to day operations to get ahead.   That makes the most sense to me.  And maybe I can get some of my ideas beyond the “planning” stage and into the “production” stage.

Ultimately, nobody’s going to make your ideas come about when they have different plans.  Make your own dreams reality, and then see what people have to say about that.

DevLink 2010

So, I went to DevLink 2010 and saw Brian H. Prince from Microsoft.  He mentioned that developers need to start a blog, and whenever they run into questions or issues, they should discuss those things on their blog.  That it “builds brand awareness” and also gets solutions out in the hands of other developers.  I think that’s just brilliant, and so I’m going to go with it.  Welcome to my blog, I hope you enjoy it, and I hope I can help you.
